IGP seeks UNODC support for training programmes of police

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md Mainul Islam on Wednesday sought cooperation of the UNODC to different training programmes of Bangladesh police force.

The IGP made the appeal when a four-member delegation of the UNODC (United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime) led by its South Asia Representative Marco Teixeira paid a courtesy call on him at the Police Headquarters (PHQ) office here in the afternoon.
During the meeting, they emphasized on contemporary training at home and abroad as well as logistics support for Bangladesh police to combat rising crime, cybercrime, money laundering, transnational crime, human trafficking and protecting human rights, crisis management and maintaining law and order.

The IGP thanked the UNODC authorities for their cooperation in various training for the Bangladesh Police, said a PHQ release.

The police chief expressed the hope that the UNODC cooperation for the training of police personnel would continue in the days to come.

The delegation also assured the police of providing full cooperation in capacity building of the Bangladesh Police.
