The bodies of a man and his daughter were recovered nearly 24 hours after they went missing in the Dhaleswari river in Manikganj district.
Their bodies were recovered from Baira Kheyaghat area under Singair Upazila at around 8 am on Thursday (September 26).
The dead were Mohidur Rahman, a trader of that area, and her daughter Rafa, a student of class seven at Baira High School.
According to locals, Mohidur Rahman took his 11-year-old girl Rafa Akter to the river near his house to teach her to swim on Wednesday morning. At one stage, Rafa drowned in the water. At that time, Mohidur also disappeared while trying to save his daughter.
Later, on information, a unit of Singair Fire Service and a diving team of Aricha River Port Fire Station rushed to the spot and carried out rescue operations. But after much searching, they were not found.
