Vice Chancellor Prof Saleh Hasan Naqeeb said on Monday that the Rajshahi University Central Students' Council (RUCSU) elections will be held within next five months.

However, he emphasised that the administration will first determine whether to impose a ban on party politics on campus before proceeding with the elections.

Speaking to journalists, Prof Saleh said, "We aim to conduct the RUCSU elections within the next five months. However, we need to decide the future of student politics before we can organise the polls."

The Vice Chancellor outlined two possible approaches regarding student politics -- a complete ban or a reform of the existing political framework.
