‘Legends of the Decade’ concert featuring Pakistan's band Jal postponed due to bad weather

After exactly a decade, Pakistan’s iconic pop-rock band Jal was all set to enamour the music lovers in Bangladesh as the headliner of the ‘Legends of the Decade’ concert today (Friday) at the Dhaka Arena in Purbachal motorway, which has now been postponed.

In what promised to be an incredible cross-genre musical spectacular, the band was scheduled to be joined by a trio of renowned and popular Bangladeshi bands: Aurthohin, Vikings, and Conclusion.
The tentative opening schedule for the concert was 4 pm on Friday.

“Due to heavy rain, today's "Legend of the Decade" concert has been postponed. The weather conditions have made it unsafe to proceed with the event, and the safety of attendees, artists, and staff is our top priority,” the organisers announced via a press release and through a Facebook post on Friday afternoon, UNB reports.

The press release stated that a press conference will be held today at 6 pm at Le Meridien Dhaka, where the organisers will announce the rescheduled concert date.

“We apologise for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding. Further details will be shared during the press conference,” the organisers stated via the press release.

Earlier on Thursday night, the organisers hosted a pre-event press meet featuring Goher Mumtaz, the charismatic frontman and founding father of Jal, who shared his excitement to perform in front of the Bangladeshi crowd after exactly 12 years. The press meet was also joined by Vikings frontman Tonmoy Tansen and Aurthohin’s Mark Don, alongside officials from the concert’s organisers Assen and Xirconium.

“After a few years of forming the band, we surprisingly observed that we were being chased by water wherever we went and performed! We could not perform due to rain in several places, including Pune, Sharjah, and a couple of other places; and this time we found that it has been raining here in Dhaka as well. At some point, we even thought that we needed to change the band name,” Goher humorously said at the press meet.

Jal last performed in Dhaka in 2012 at an open-air concert. This year marks the 20th anniversary of Jal's groundbreaking debut album 'Adaat', and expressing his admiration and acknowledgement for the unwavering affection of Jal's Bangladeshi fans, Goher made the major announcement last night at the press meet that the band's next album, 'Baarish', an EP (Extended Play), will be released in November this year,
