World Tourism Day-2024 observed in districts

The World Tourism Day-2024 was observed on Friday across the country and the globe in a befitting manner.

This year's theme of the Day is - "Tourism and Peace."

To mark the Day, different programmes were organized in districts including Bandarban, Joypurhat, Meherpur, Narayanganj and Patuakhali.

BANDARBAN: On this occasion, different government and non-government organizations arranged various programmes in the district.

A colourful rally was brought out from the premises of the deputy commissioner's (DC) office in the morning, and it ended at the same venue after parading the main streets of the town.

After the rally, a discussion meeting was held in the conference room of the DC office.

Bandarban DC Shah Mojahid Uddin presided over the meeting.

While speaking at the discussion, the DC said, "We have already built numerous facilities for tourists at various spots to make those attractive enough."

Additional DC (ADC) SM Monjurul Alam, Assistant Superintendent of Police Junaid Zahedi, Senior Assistant Engineer of Hill District Parishad Lelin Chakma, Officer-in-Charge of Tourist Police Bandarban Zone Md Jahangir Alam, Unit Manager of Tourism Motel Mohammad Soeb, tourism operators of the district, representatives of civil society and students of various institutions, among others, were also present at the programme.

JOYPURHAT: To mark the Day, different programmes were organized in the district.

A rally was brought out from the DC office premises in the morning, and it ended at the same place after parading the main streets of the town.

Later on, a discussion meeting was held in the conference room of the DC office.

Acting DC of Joypurhat Mohiuddin Jahangir presided over the meeting.

General Secretary of District Matsyajibi Dal Minhazul Islam Manik, District Youth Development Department Trainer Masudur Rahman, Head Teacher of Joypurhat Collectorate Girls Bidya Niketan Mahbub Ul Alam, and Executive Director of non-government organization 'ESO' Matinur Rahman Matin, among others, also spoke at the programme.
 
MEHERPUR: Different programmes were organized in the district on the occasion of the Day. 

A rally was brought out from District Shilpakala Academy premises in the morning, which paraded different streets of the town.
Meherpur DC Sifat Mehnaj led the rally.

Deputy Director of Local Government Department Md Shamim Hossain, ADC Md Tanveer Hasan Ruman, and Principal of Meherpur Technical Training Centre Arif Hossain Talukder, among others, were also present in the rally.

NARAYANGANJ: In this connection, different programmes were organized in the district.

A rally was brought out from the DC office premises in the morning, and it ended at the same place after parading the main streets of the city. 

Later on, a discussion meeting was held in the conference room of the DC office in the city.

ADC (General) Sakib Al Rabbi presided over the discussion meeting.

Various officials of the administration and tourism related businessmen, among others, were also present at the programme.

KALAPARA, PATUAKHALI: The district administration arranged different programmes at Kuakata in Kalapara Upazila of the district marking the Day.

A colourful rally was brought out from the Kuakata Municipality Office premises at around 11:30 am, and it paraded the main streets of the town and the sea beach areas. 

The participants in the rally also conducted a cleaning campaign in the sea beach.

After the rally, a discussion meeting was held at Tourism Holiday Homes. 

Patuakhali DC Abu Hasnat Mohammad Arefin, Tourist Police Kuakata Region Superintend Ansar Uddin, Kalapara Upazila Nirbahi Officer RAbiul Islam, journalists from Kuakata Press Club and local businessmen, among others, were also present at the discussion meeting.  

Besides, a government website, named 'kuakata.gov.bd' was also inaugurated there on the occasion of the Day.
