BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir demanded of the interim government to create condition for the return of BNP Acting Chairperson Tarique Rahman to the country by withdrawing all false cases against him.

Speaking at the memorial meeting of late BNP Standing Committee member Brig Gen (retd) Hannan Shah at Kapasia in Gazipur on Friday, Fakhrul said, "We have repeatedly said that we will give reasonable time for elections, but logically not as long as before. I demand that elections be held soon after completing the reform work without delay."
He said, "Awami League is gone but their beneficiaries are still in the country. Therefore, we have to ensure safety during Durga Puja so that no one can create an unstable environment at the time."

He said to the Hindu religion people, "We are all people of Bangladesh. We are always by your side. All the people of Bangladesh will stand by you to ensure your unhindered worship.'

Addressing the interim government, BNP Secretary General said, "I want to make one thing clear, the people of Bangladesh believe in democracy. Parliamentary government should be formed through free and fair elections, that government will rule the country."

"For this reason, the country's administration should be reformed and made suitable for elections as soon as possible," he said.

Fakhrul said, "In the last 17 years, about 1,000 people of BNP have been disappeared or killed. False cases have been filed against 60 lakh people. BNP leaders could not sleep in their homes. Awami League is still conspiring."

BNP Secretary General blamed Awami League for destabilizing the garment sector and said, "Sheikh Hasina has run away. But her people are still destabilizing the garment industry."

He said, "After defeating the Awami League government in the student uprising, the people of the country got a chance to catch their breath. This opportunity was not created in a day. BNP's long-term self-sacrifice made this coup possible."

"Sheikh Hasina destroyed administration, judiciary and economy to cling to power illegally. She thought she would stay in power for the rest of her life. She will build a mountain of wealth by oppressing people." said Fakhrul.

He said, "The crisis has not ended even if Sheikh Hasina escaped. People believe that democracy should be established through free elections. He urged for holding election as soon as possible by creating an environment suitable for voting.
