Jubo League man hacked dead in Shariatpur

A Jubo League activist was hacked to death by some BNP men at Damudya upazila in Shariatpur district on Friday.

The incident happened in Bhangabridge area under Islampur union in the upazila. 

The deceased was identified as Rasel Sardar, 38, son of Ishaq Sardar, a resident of the area. 

Police and locals said some BNP leaders and activists, led by Saiful Madbar, hacked Rasel indiscriminately while he was getting his hair cut in a salon, leaving him critically injured. 

He was rescued and taken to Shariatpur Sadar Hospital and later transferred to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), where he succumbed to his injuries around 3:00am on Saturday. 

Family members of the victim demanded justice in  this incident. 

The murder might have happened due to a previous dispute, said Nazrul Islam, superintendent of police of Shariatpur district. 

Legal action would be taken after receiving a written complaint, the police official added.
