World Rabies Day observed in districts

The World Rabies Day-2024 was observed on Saturday across the country and the globe in a befitting manner.

This year's theme of the Day is - "Breaking Rabies Boundaries."

The World Rabies Day is a global healthcare event observed on the 28th of September every year since 2007, established by the Global Alliance for Rabies Control. 

Various local and global communities gather to advocate awareness of rabies disease and discuss the various means (such as vaccination to pets, etc.) to avoid it on the Day.

To mark the Day, different programmes were organized in districts including Barishal, Bhola, Habiganj, Natore and Narayanganj.

BARISHAL: On this occasion, the district administration and Barishal Divisional Livestock Office jointly organized different programmes in the city.

A rally was brought out at around 10 am, which paraded the main streets of the city.

After the rally, a discussion meeting was held in the conference room of Barishal Divisional Livestock Office. 

Divisional Livestock Department Director Dr Md Lutfar Rahman was present as the chief guest while Barishal District Livestock Officer Md Mostafizur Rahman presided over the meeting. 

Professor Dr Farzana Islam Rumi of Microbiology and Public Heath Department of Barishal Campus in Patuakhali Science and Technology University, FDIL Principal Scientific Officer Dr Md Nurul Alam, and Associate Professor of Microbiology Department SM Akbar Kabir, among others were also present at the programme.  

BHOLA: To mark the Day, a rally was brought out from the premises of the District Livestock Office which paraded the important streets and ended at same place in the morning.

After the rally, a discussion meeting was held t District Livestock Office in the town.

Vice-Principal of Bhola Government College Professor Mohammad Mohiuddin addressed the function as the chief guest with District Livestock Officer Md Rafiqul Islam Khan in the chair.

Sadar Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Md Moniruzzaman Ahmed, Senior Assistant Commissioner of the Deputy Commissioner's (DC) office Md Ali Suza, Additional District Livestock Officer Debasis Kumar Kundu and Training Officer of District Livestock Office Md Anisur Rahman, among others, also spoke there.

HABIGANJ: In this connection, a rally was brought out in the morning that paraded the main streets of the town. 

After the rally, a discussion meeting was also held in the conference room of the District Livestock Department office.

With Livestock Officer Dr Md Abdul Quader in the chair, it was addressed, among others, by Sylhet Divisional Director Dr Maruf Hasan, Sadar Upazila Health Officer Dr Delwar Hossain, Habiganj Agriculture University Lecturer Sharmin Sultana, Lecturer Salauddin and Dr Mostafizur Rahman.

NATORE: On this occasion, a rally was brought out from the premises of the District Livestock Office which paraded the important streets and ended at the same place.

After the rally, a discussion meeting was held in the conference room of the District Livestock Office with District Livestock Officer Dr Zulfikar Md Akhtar Hossain in the chair.

Sadar Upazila Livestock Officer Dr Mostafa Zaman, Veterinary Surgeon Dr Mehdi Hasan, and Senior Health Education Officer of the civil surgeon's office Shafiqul Ferdous, among others, also spoke at the programme.

The speakers said, "The government has taken effective steps to eliminate rabies in Bangladesh by 2030."

NARAYANGANJ: To mark the Day, different programmes were organized in the district. 

District Livestock Office and Narayanganj Veterinary Hospital jointly organized the programmes.

A rally was brought out in the morning, which paraded the main streets of the city. 

After the rally, a discussion meeting was also held.

Narayanganj DC Md Mahmudul Haque was present as the chief guest while District Livestock Officer Dr Md A Mannan Mia presided over the meeting.

District Training Officer Dr ABM Jahangir Ratan, Additional District Livestock Officer Dr Husna Raqshan Ferdousi, and Veterinary Officer Dr Md Jakir Hossain, among others, were also present at the programme.

Later on, the chief guest inaugurated free vaccination and treatment programme on the occasion of the Day.
