Work with devotion to regain public trust: DMP Chief to police

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Md Mainul Hasan has urged members of police to work with devotion to regain public trust.

"Every member of police force has to perform duties properly to regain the trust of people," he said while addressing a welfare meeting at Shaheed SI Shahjahan Auditorium at Mirpur Public Order Management (POM) unit as chief guest.

Pointing out the situation when he took charge as DMP Commissioner, Mainul said, "Crisis between police and public ensued due to unprofessional activities of some members. It is certainly a great loss for the police force."

However, he said, "We are working round the clock to restore peoples' confidence. I believe, with the collective efforts of all we can reach a place where police will be a symbol of public trust."

The Commissioner also said police is one of the most important institutions of the state, as they maintain internal peace and law and order of the state.

"Stable law and order situation is a precondition for business and overall development of a country," he said.

The DMP Commissioner called upon every member of the police to discharge their duties with sincerity by following the instructions of senior officers.

At the beginning of the meeting a prayer was offered seeking salvation of the departed soul of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the student uprising.

The meeting also remembered the members of the police force who sacrificed their lives and injured to ensure law and order.

Members of different rank and files of DMP shared their problems with the DMP Commissioner and pointed out the requirements to perform their duties properly.
