Man lynched in Noakhali

A man was beaten to death and another three others were injured by a mob at Sadar upazila in Noakhali district on Saturday. 

The incident happened in Surzanarayanbahar area under the West Charmatua union in the upazila.

The deceased was identified as Md Abdus Sahid, 43, son of Momin Mollah, a resident of the area.

The other injured are Md Jamal hossain, 42; Md Zabed, 28; and Md Rayad Hossain, 36;. 

It was learnt that local people detained four people along with one pipe gun from a house in the area, alleging their involvement with terror activities.The agitated crowd then beat them mercilessly. On information, joint forces rescued them and handed them over to Sudharam Model Police Station. 

Later, the injured Shahid was taken to Noakhali General Hospital around 6:00pm, where he succumbed to his injuries around 7:00pm. 

Police stated that the deceased, Shahid, was accused in several cases.

Meanwhile, Awami League claimed that Shahid was the vice-president of West Charmatua union Awami League unit. The party demanded it through a Facebook post on its verified page. 

A video of the incident went viral on social media, showing a youth beating Shahid's leg with a heavy stick. 

Students surrounded four alleged terrorists and beat them, leaving Shahid critically injured. He was later rescued and taken to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries, said Mir Jahidul Haque Rani, officer-in-charge of Sudharam Model Police Station.
