KHULNA, Sept, 29: Secretary of the Ministry of Food Md Ismail Hossain here on Saturday said, the Khulna Steel wheat silo is being constructed by maintaining international standards.
"The quality of food grains will be maintained for a long period of three years in storage after implementing the project. It will have wheat storage, loading and unloading in an automatic process. So, the possibility of spoilage of food grains is very low. There are plans to build similar silos in several other regions across the country," he added.
Food secretary was speaking at a view-exchange meeting with officials after visiting the progress of the under-construction steel silo under the Khulna Maheshwarpasha Modern Food Storage Construction Project on September 28.
Khulna Regional Food Controller Md Iqbal Bahar Chowdhury, Manager of Modern Food Storage Construction Project Engineer Omar Faruk, and District Food Controller Md Tazul Islam, among others, were present.
The modern steel silo is scheduled to be completed in December-2024 at Tk 355.91 crore. The capacity of this steel silo is expected to be 76,200 tonnes with complete technology machines without hand touch.
