4 girls, among 6 killed in road accidents in Kushtia, Rajbari

At least six people including four teenage girls were killed in separate road accidents in Kushtia and Dinajpur on Sunday. 

Our Kushtia Correspondent reports four teenage girls were killed as a speeding microbus rammed them while they were returning home after finishing Quran course from a mosque at Kuthipara on Kushtia-Rajbari regional highway Kushtia on Sunday morning.
Police identified three deceased as Mim, 12, daughter of M Hanif, Tanjila, 11, daughter of Palan Sheikh and Juthi, 12, daughter of Helal Uddin hailed from Shimulia-Kuthipara village. But the identity of one deceased is yet to be known.

The accident occurred around 7:15am in the area of Khoksha upazila as the microbus crushed the teenagers while they were crossing the road, killing one on the spot and injuring three others severely who later died in the hospital, a police official said.

The speeding microbus plunged into a roadside pond as well after hitting the girls, said Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kushtia Highway Police Akul Chandra Biswas. Agitated people blockaded the Kushtia-Rajbari Highway for some time protesting the accident.

Our Dinajpur Correspondent writes two people were killed in separate road accidents at Birampur and Parbatipur upazilas in Dinajpur district on Sunday.

In Parbatipur upazila, a 70-year-old vegetable vendor Mohir Uddin was killed after being struck by a truck in the early morning in the Bhober Bazar area.

Local residents stopped the truck and handed it over to the police, said Sohel Rana, Sub Inspector of Parbatipur Police Station.

In Birampur upazila, around 12:30am on Saturday, a 45-year-old man was hit by a truck while returning home on his bicycle after closing his grocery shop.

The deceased was identified as Nur Alam, son of late Monsur Ali from, a resident of Bijul village in the upazila. Sub-Inspector Kamruzzaman of Birampur Police Station confirmed.
