Journalist and freedom fighter Badiul Alam died on Sunday at his Eskaton residence in the capital.
He was 78.
His family sources said that he was suffering from old age complications and also kidney diseases.
Badiul Alam was a former senior vice-president and treasurer of the National Press Club. He is survived by his wife and one daughter.
He took part in the War of Independence of 1971.
Badiul Alam, also a former news editor and chief reporter of News Today, worked for different English and Bangla dailies, including The Financial Express and Dainik Janata.
His body was kept on Jatiya Press Club premises in the evening to pay last respects.
He was a permanent member of the Jatiya Press Club and also a founding member of Dhaka Reporters Unity.
The body of Badiul Alam was buried at Azimpur graveyard after namaz-e-janaza on the Jatiya Press Club premises at 8:30pm.
Jatiya Press Club acting president Hasan Hafeez and acting general secretary Ayub Bhuiyan expressed their profound sorrow over the death of Badiul Alam.
In a statement, the leaders prayed for the salvation of his departed soul and conveyed their deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.
