Although the final list of candidates for the BFF Executive Committee Election 2024 is yet to be finalised, 'who is sitting on the BFF President's chair this time' is the burning question echoing among local football fans.

Among the possible candidates, the names of Tabith Awal, Imrul Hassan, and Tarafder Mohammad Ruhul Amin are the much talked about ones.

Although Bashundhara Kings President Imrul has yet to reveal his name for the contest, there are predictions that he will put up a solid fight and possibly win.

He had shown his capability as a sports organiser over the years. As a vice president of BFF, he gained fame by steering the low-tier leagues effectively.

Imrul's Bashundhara Kings got several international achievements in the last few years and became one of the top challengers in local and international tournaments.

Tarafder Mohammad Ruhul Amin who had a previous history of pulling away his team Saif Sporting Club from the Bangladesh Premier League as a sudden move may not be in a good place in the fans' minds.

However, Tabith Awal, the son of BNP leader and businessperson Abdul Awal Mintu, is a good candidate. He had been with Football for a while.

He was with different sporting clubs and did well in managing them. No allegations of corruption or any financial gain were found against him.

Despite the fact that Tabith has a clean image, he was on the panel of Kazi Salahuddin previously and was an elected vice-president of the Federation during the Salahuddin era.

So he might have a good relationship with Salahuddin. So, one may raise a question if he would take proper action against the corrupt system that was put in the Federation over the years.

As a result, a good contest is expected between Tabith and Imrul in the coming election. We will have to wait till the 26th of October to see who gets the councillors' mandate for the next term.
