JOYPURHAT: A young man reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling of his room in Sadar Upazila of the district on Saturday.

Deceased Maruf Hossain, 24, was the son of Emdadul, a resident of Narayanpara Village in the upazila.
The deceased's family members said that Maruf went to his bed after having dinner with them on Friday night. Later, at around 6 am on Saturday, his mother found him hanging from the ceiling when she entered his room as he was not responding her calls from the inside.

Being informed, police recovered the body in the morning and sent it to Joypurhat General Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Locals claimed that Maruf might have committed suicide after being jilted in a romantic affair.
