Elderly man killed in Madaripur road accident

An elderly man was killed after being hit by an ambulance at Thantali Police Station in Madaripur municipality on Tuesday. 

The deceased was identified as Rajab Ali Sardar, 60, son of late Sonamdi Sardar, resident of Thantali area of Madaripur municipality.

The accident occurred when Rajab Ali went to the mosque next to his house to offer Fajr prayers. After the prayer in early morning, when he was returning home, an ambulance hit him as he tried to cross the road. He was seriously injured, Inspector (Investigation) of Madaripur Sadar Model Police Station Monirul Islam said.

Locals rescued him and took him to Madaripur Sadar Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.

The body was kept at Sadar Hospital morgue for post-mortem, the police inspector said.

Legal action will be taken in this connection, he added.
