Ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina's principal secretary Kamal Abul Naser Chowdhury and former Youth and Sports secretary Mesbah Uddin Ahmed have been arrested by the Detective Branch (DB) of police in separate raids in the capital today (Wednesday).
Besides, former chairman of EXIM Bank Ltd and Bankers Association of Bangladesh (BAB) Nazrul Islam Mazumder, and Basundhara Group's coordinator Adnan have been arrested by the DB.
"We have arrested Kamal Abul Naser Chowdhury from Dhanmondi in the early hours of today," Md Talebur Rahman, deputy commissioner (DC) of the Media and Public Relations of the DB of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) said.
He also said that they also arrested former sports secretary Mesbah Uddin Ahmed, former chairman of EXIM Bank Ltd and Bankers Association of Bangladesh (BAB) Nazrul Islam Mazumder, and Bashundhara Group coordinator Adnan from different parts of the city in the early hours of Wednesday.
All of them were arrested in connection with specific charges, and they would be produced before the court today, he added.
