District administration has withdrawn the indefinite section 144 imposed in Khagrachhari  due to avoid any unrest after the murder of a  teacher.

Md Shahiduzzaman, deputy commissioner and district magistrate, confirmed the matter  around 3pm on Wednesday.

The emergency order was issued on Tuesday to prevent further unrest following the murder of a teacher, Hasnat Muhammad Sohail Rana, who was beaten to death around 12:30pm over allegations of rape.

The murder occurred at Khagrachhari Technical School and College, where tensions erupted between different groups following the incident.

The deceased was identified as Abul Hasnat Sohail Rana, an instructor at the institution.

His killing quickly escalated into a conflict between Pahari and Bangalee communities, leading to attacks and vandalism at various locations.

In response to the violence, the district administration imposed Section 144 from 3pm on Tuesday to prevent further escalation.
