Due to heavy rainfall, the country's temperature may fall by 4 degrees Celsius. A low-pressure area is likely to form in the Bay in the next 24 hours, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).
"There is the possibility of a low pressure area
developing in the Bay of Bengal over the next 24 hours. Because of this,
we have asked them to keep cautionary signal no 3 hoisted," said
Meteorologist Omar Faruk. "Under the influence of the low pressure, it
is likely to rain across the country on Friday. The rainfall is likely to
ease from Saturday."
"Light to moderate rains
or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind are likely in most
places in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barisal,
Chittagong and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy
falls in some places across the country," according to the forecast
issued at 9AM on Thursday.
The monsoon is active over Bangladesh and strong over North Bay, it said.
Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra maritime ports have been asked to hoist local cautionary signal no 3.
Intense rain since Wednesday evening has led to waterlogging in different parts of the capital and disruptions to traffic.
