Police have arrested Rupnagar thana unit Awami League vice-president Gafur Mollah along with a gun and bullets on charge of attacking people during recent mass movement. 

Police said acting on a tip-off, police arrested Gafur from his Rupnagar residence in Dhaka at 3.30AM on Thursday and seized a short-gun, eight rounds of bullet and a cartridge from his possession.
Leaders and activist of AL and its associate bodies carried out attack on the student movement at Proshika Intersection at Mirpur-10 on July 20.

During the attack, a man named Shamim Hawlader was shot to death in the area.

Samrat Hawlader, cousin of the victim, filed a murder case with Rupnagar Police Station in this connection.
 
Police said after scrutinizing the video footages of the place of occurrence and its adjoining areas, police identified Gafur Mollah and confirmed of his involvement in the attack.
