As many as 113 people including ousted prime minister and Awami League president Sheikh Hasina have been sued on charge of attempt to kill BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.

Being the plaintiff, Jatiyatabadi Krishak Dal's central committee member Shariful Islam Shaon filed the case with Gulshan Police Station in Dhaka on Friday (October 4) afternoon.
Gulshan police said the case was filed on charges of barring Begum Khaleda Zia to join the 'March for Democracy' programme from her Gulshan residence in Dhaka on December 29, 2013, and attempting to kill her.

An obstruction was created keeping sand-laden trucks in front of Khaleda Zia's Gulshan residence 'Firoza' on December 29, 2013. As a result, she could not take part in the "March for Democracy" announced by the BNP.

In the case, charges of making Khaleda Zia house arrest and bid to kill her were brought.

On January 5, 2014, BNP boycotted unilateral election and the party announced to resist the polls. As part of it, the party announced 'March for Democracy' programme for December 29. However, the BNP leaders and workers could not stay on the roads due to widespread arrests by law enforcers. Though the party chairperson Khaleda Zia tried to join the programme coming out of her Gulshan residence, police confined her to her residence. As a result, the BNP programme was foiled.
