8 killed, 15 injured in road accidents in 3 districts

At least eight people were killed and 15 others injured in separate road accidents in Tangail, Jamalpur and Gaibandha on Friday 

Our Tangail Correspondent reports at least four people were killed and 10 others injured when a passenger bus collided head-on with a truck at Kalihati Link Road on Dhaka-Tangail Highway on Friday morning. 
Among the deceased, two have been identified as Mizanur Rahman, 33, son of Bahar Uddin of Ghagra village of Dhanbari upazila of the district and Ziaul, 35, son of late A Wazed of Mahish Bayan village of Madarganj upazila of Jamalpur district. The identities of the other two victims could not be known immediately.

The accident occurred in the area when a Mymensingh-bound bus that left the capital and reached Mymensingh Link Road on Dhaka-Tangail Highway collided with a truck that left Kalihati around 1:00am, leaving four people dead on the spot and 10 others injured, said Md Nannu Khan, In-Charge of Alenga Highway Police. The injured were admitted to Tangail General Hospital, he said. Police seized the bus and truck from the spot. Legal action will be taken in this connection, he added.

Our Jamalpur Correspondent writes three persons were killed and at least two others injured when a truck ran over an auto-rickshaw in Jamalpur town on Friday. The accident took place around 7:00am at Tubewelpar Trimor on the Jamalpur-Tangail Road.

The dead were Jaidar Hossain Rukon Mahmud, 45, hailed from Kapashahatia area under Melandah Upazila, Abdul Malek, 53, of Sheikh Sadi village, and Mostafizur Rahman, 45, a teacher of Beltia Kamil Madrasa.

According to locals, an auto-rickshaw was going to Jamalpur town from Kalibari with passengers in the morning. On the way, a truck hit the auto-rickshaw from behind in that area and fled the scene. The auto-rickshaw driver died on the spot. Two passengers were seriously injured. 

They were rescued and taken to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital where doctors declared both of them dead.

Jamalpur Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Faisal Atik said the truck could not be seized. Legal steps are under process in this regard.

Our Gaibandha, Correspondent adds a union parishad member was reportedly killed in a road accident in the Dariapur Bazar area under Sadar upazila on Friday.
