Matiur Rahman Chowdhury, Editor of Manabzamin, warned on Saturday that if the national election is delayed, "the country will be in deep crisis."

"Eternal time cannot be given for reforms. If the election is delayed, the country will be in deep crisis. Therefore, there is no alternative to reforming the electoral system and holding early elections," said Matiur Rahman.
He said, "Constitution can be amended, not rewritten. Rewriting will be dangerous. If the revolution of the student masses fails, social chaos may arise. However, there is no fear of military rule in the country. Military rule is not possible in today's era. If there is military rule, the development partners will stop the aid. America, United Nations and other international organisations are against military rule."

He made the remarks as the chief guest at a shadow debate hosted by the Debate for Democracy at the Film Development Corporation (FDC) in Dhaka, with Hasan Ahmed Chowdhury Kiran presiding over the event.

"If the revolution fails, Bangladesh will fail. And if Bangladesh fails, we will face existential crisis," Matiur Rahman said.

He added, "We are proud to have Dr Muhammad Yunus as the head of the interim government. He is a universally known as a good man. But the administration needs to be stricter in management."

"If the prosecution of those involved in the July-August killings is delayed, the country risks a return of the fascists. At the same time, there are doubts about getting justice for the murders. Many leaders of the Awami League government have fled the country due to the failure of the law and order," said the editor.
