Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain has said that the government has not been able to confirm the whereabouts of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

"We are not sure about her location. We have also checked with Delhi. No one has been able to confirm. As you have seen in the media, we have also observed reports that she may have gone to Ajman in the UAE. However, we have not been able to confirm it," Adviser Md Touhid Hossain told the journalists at his office on Tuesday while replying to a question on Sheikh Hasina's whereabouts.

"We have also inquired in Delhi about this matter. No one has been able to provide confirmation," the adviser said.

Some media outlets reported that Sheikh Hasina left for Dubai from Delhi, where she had initially sought refuge after stepping down from her position.

Responding to a question about allegations of Awami League leaders fleeing to other countries with Indian travel passes, he clarified, "Travel passes are issued for returning to Bangladesh when passports expire, and not for travelling to other countries."

The adviser also refrained from commenting on speculations about the US pressuring Sheikh Hasina to leave for another country, saying, "You should ask the US about that."
