KHULNA, Oct 10: Authorities have deployed 29,312 members of Ansar and Village Defence Party (VDP) in 4,562 puja mandaps across Khulna Division to maintain law and order situation.
The Anser-VDP men also have been asked to perform duties with utmost sincerity and honesty from the night of October 8 to 13.
A media release signed by Md Ismail Hossain, public relations coordinator at the Ansar and VDP's Khulna Range office, on Tuesday evening said, the decision of deploying forces was taken following a directive from Khulna Range's Deputy Director General Md Nurul Hasan Faridi.
Earlier, Faridi was speaking as the chief guest at a briefing parade occasion held at the Anser-VDP Khulna Range Office marking the Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of the Hindus.
Of the forces, eight personnel have been assigned to duties at each more important puja mandap while six others have been deployed in important and general puja mandaps, according to the press release.
A total of 5,584 Anser-VDP men have been deployed in 860 puja mandaps in Khulna, 3,888 deployed in 597 puja mandaps in Bagerhat, 3,496 in 550 puja mandaps in Satkhira, 4,212 in 653 mandaps in Jashore, 2,764 in 438 mandaps in Jhenidah, 3,496 in 562 mandaps in Magura, 3,450 in 534 mandaps in Narail, 1,516 in mandaps in Kustia, 664 in 104 madaps in Chuadanga and 242 forces were deployed in 38 puja mandaps in Meherpur.
