World Egg Day observed in districts

The World Egg Day-2024 was observed on Friday across the country and the globe with a call to raise awareness of the health benefits of eggs and their contribution to health, development and function of the body and brain.

This year's theme of the Day is - "Deeme Pusti Deeme Shakti, Deeme Achhe Rog Mukti (Nutrients in eggs, energy in eggs, cures diseases in eggs)."  

To mark the Day, different programmes were organized in districts including Barishal, Gaibandha and Narayanganj. 
BARISHAL: On this occasion, different programmes were organized in the city.

 Barishal Divisional and District Livestock Departments jointly organized a discussion meeting in the conference room of District Artificial Insemination Centre at Nobogram in the city at around 11 am. 

Barishal Divisional Commissioner Additional Secretary Md Shawkat Ali was present as the chief guest while Director of the Divisional Livestock Department Dr Md Lutfar Rahman presided over the meeting.

Barishal Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mohammad Delwar Hossain attended the programme as the special guest.

Principal Scientific Officer (FDIL) Dr Md Nurul Alam gave a power point presentation, while District Livestock Officer Dr Md Mostafizur Rahman delivered the welcome speech. 

Earlier, a rally was brought from the premises of Barishal Livestock Office in the morning, and it ended after parading the main streets of the city. 

Divisional Livestock Department Deirector Dr Md Lutfar Rahman led the rally.

GAIBANDHA: To mark the Day, Fulchhari Upazila Livestock Office and Veterinary Hospital in the district jointly organized different programmes in association with the upazila administration.
 
In the morning around 10 am, a colourful rally led by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Jagatbandhu Mondal was brought out from the Upazila Livestock Office, and it ended at the office campus after parading the main roads of the upazila town. 

Later on, a discussion meeting was also held in the hall room of the Upazila Parishad with Upazila Livestock Officer Dr Jahirul Islam in the chair.

UNO Jagatbandhu Mondal attended the function and addressed it as the chief guest. 

Upazila Agriculture Officer Md Mintu Mia, and Upazila ICT Officer Md Kazal Mia, among others, also spoke at the function.
 
The officials in their speech said that eggs are tasteful food which is sources of low calorie, and high-quality protein.
 
Besides the protein eggs also contain vitamins B and D, and a good proportion of minerals that are important to health, they also said.

Upazila Livestock Officer Dr Jahirul Islam in his speech said that the World Egg Day is celebrated on the second Friday in October and it was founded by the International Egg Commission (IEC) at a conference held in Vienna in 1996.

The purpose of this Day is to inform people around the world that eggs are healthy foods and should be included in our daily diet and its aim is to honour the farmers who take care of chickens so that we will be able to serve eggs in our table, he also said.

Terming the egg as an incredibly versatile ingredient, for both sweet and savoury dishes the Upazila Livestock Officer said eggs contain lots of protein and nutrients that are good for the human body.

An emphasis should be given on taking care of chickens and the hens so that they will surely lay eggs most of the time to meet our demand, he concluded.

Apart from it, a number of students of primary schools of the upazila town were fed eggs free of cost marking the Day, said the sources concerned.

A large number of officials, NGO activists, and farmers including media men took part in the programmes spontaneously.

Similar programmes were also held in other six upazila headquarters of the district marking the Day. 

NARAYANGANJ: In this connection, different programmes were organized in the district.

A discussion meeting was held in the conference room of the District Livestock Office in the morning.

District Livestock Department organized the programme with its Officer Dr Md Abdul Mannan Mia in the chair.

District Veterinary Officer Dr Md Jakir Hossain and District Training Officer Dr ABM Jahangir Ratan, among others, also spoke on the occasion. 

Araihazar Upazila Livestock Officer Dr Md Ataur Rahman Bhuiyan conducted the programme, where Sadar Upazila Veterinary Surgeon Dr Al Mahmud Hasan gave the power point presentation. 

Later on, a rally was brought out, which paraded the main streets of the city.
 
Besides, boiled eggs were also distributed among pedestrians, auto drivers and their passengers for free.
