Three arrestees are - Tanjina Akter Faria, Kahinur Begum and Nazma Akter Laiju.
Md Sarwar Jahan, deputy commissioner (DC) of Ramna zone, shared the information at a press briefing held at DMP Media Centre in Dhaka on Saturday.
The women were working at a house of one Roksana Mazumder at Eskaton Garden as maids and had stolen the gold ornaments, he said.
Roksana Mazumder filed a case with the Ramna Model Police Station on October 8 against the maids over the theft of 44 bhoris of gold ornaments and five diamond rings, worth around Tk 52 lakh, from her Eskaton Garden house.
Police with help of information technology arrested Faria and Kahinur on October 10 and Laiju the next day.
The official said among the arrestees, Faria gave confessional statement before the court about her involvement with stealing and said other two maids were also took part in the incident.
Besides, Kahinur during her two-day remand informed about eight bhoris of gold and police recovered the gold from the servant’s bedroom in the house of the victim.
Md Sarwar Jahan said according to Laiju’s given information, police recovered 16.15 bhoris of gold ornaments from her house, 2.12 bhoris from Ananna Jewellers, and 3.08 bhori from Nusrat Jewellers in Karwan Bazar.
So far, law enforcers recovered 31.04 bhoris out of 44 stolen gold ornaments, Jahansaid adding that they are continuing their drives to recover the remaining stolen jewelleries and arrest other people, who were involved with the crimes.
