World Standards Day-2024 observed in Khulna

KHULNA, Oct 14: With the theme of 'Our Shared Vision for a better world', the 55th World Standards Day was observed in the district on Monday.

To mark the Day, Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) of Khulna organized a discussion meeting at its conference room in the city.

Additional Divisional Commissioner (Development) of Khulna Abu Sayed Md Monzur Alam was present as the chief guest while Deputy Director of Khulna BSTI Md Alauddin Hussain presided over the discussion. 

Deputy Police Commissioner of Khulna Metropolitan Police B M Nuruzzaman, Additional Deputy Commissioner Taslima Akter and General Secretary of Khulna unit of Consumers Association of Bangladesh (CAB) Nazmul Azam Devid addressed the programme as special guests. 

Deputy Chief Engineer of Sun Shipping Md Nazmul Haque, Senior Manager of Swadesh BD Limited Md Ariful Islam, and human rights activist Md Abdul Halim, among others, also spoke there.
    
The chief guest said that BSTI is playing vital role to get service for the people through achieving sustainable development as well as formulation of goods and standards of services.

"We all are consumers, so it is our duty to keep quality of standards and wages of goods," he said.

Food adulteration have been reduced if we perform our real duty as a customer, he said, adding that standards and safe foods to be ensured easier as both traders and customers became aware. 

He urged the authority concerned to develop more quality and standards.
