A court in Dhaka has imposed ban on former army chief General Aziz Ahmed and his wife Dilshad Nahar Kakoli to leave the country.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge's Court judge Mohammad Ash-Shams Jaglul Hossain passed the order on Thursday afternoon responding to an application submitted by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) seeking travel ban on the couple.

ACC 's deputy director Md Zakaria submitted the application on behalf of the ACC.

After hearing, the judge passed the order.

Apart from accumulating huge wealth beyond his income, there are allegations against General Aziz Ahmed that he siphoned off money abroad and bought houses in different countries.

Aziz Ahmed went on retirement on June 23, 2021. Almost three years after his retirement, the United States imposed sanctions on him for his involvement in corruption. As a result, he himself and other members of his family will not be able to go to the United States.
