Selina Hossain has stepped down from her position as president of the Bangla Academy.
She tendered her resignation on Thursday, according to the academy's Director General Prof Mohammad Azam.
"She has signed her resignation letter today. However, there is a formal process for the acceptance of a president's resignation. We will make an official announcement once the process is completed," he said.
Addressing the matter, Selina told bdnews24.com: "Bangla Academy officials visited my home where I signed and handed over the resignation letter."
After spending 34 years working at the Academy, Selina was appointed president of the institution by Awami League government on Feb 3, 2022. She took over the role on Feb 6 for a three-year term.
Beyond her literary career as a novelist, researcher, and essayist, Selina has also served as the chairperson of the Bangladesh Shishu Academy. —bdnews24.com
