Efforts to stabilise egg prices commendable

Dear Sir

Government's recent efforts to stabilize egg prices in Dhaka are commendable. The reduction of the import duty from 25% to 5% has significantly impacted retail prices, bringing relief to many consumers.

As reported, prices have dropped by Tk 25 to 30 per dozen, a welcome change for families struggling with rising costs. It is encouraging to see that supply has increased, thanks in part to corporate initiatives to provide two million eggs daily to key wholesale markets. This collaborative approach not only enhances availability but also fosters competitive pricing, benefiting consumers across the city.

However, it is essential that the government continues to monitor these prices effectively to ensure compliance with the set guidelines. As noted by Abu Sufian, regular oversight will help prevent any potential price manipulation in the market.

Overall, these actions reflect a proactive stance toward food security in our country. I hope the government maintains this momentum and extends similar efforts to other essential commodities.
