Muggers loot Tk 12 lakh at gunpoint in Mohammadpur

Muggers have snatched away Tk 11.85 lakh from a microbus of Nestlé Company Ltd at Mohammadpur in the capital in broad daylight.

The incident happened at about 10:15am at Mohammadia Housing Ltd area at Mohammadpur in the capital.
Witnesses said a goods carrying microbus belonging to Nestle Company Ltd was going through Limited No. 3 Road after coming from Beribandh. When the microbus reached at a culvert on Limited Road No.3, several people boarding on four motorcycles waylaid the microbus.

At that time, the motorcycles' riders smashed the windshield of the microbus with their arms. It damaged the windshield and the driver was forced to stop the microbus.

Another witness said there were four motorcycles. Of those, one was carrying four riders, while three on each of the two motorcycles, and two on the rest one motorcycle. Everyone was carrying ramda and chapati. Though the incident happened in front of all, none came forward to intercept the robbers. There were so many people on the road at that time that none came forward.

Examining the local CCTV footage, police said all the robbers fled away after committing the robbery. They were seen moving toward Dhaka Udyan area through Beribandh boarding their motorcycles.

Contacted, Mohammadpur Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Ali Iftekhar Hasan said cash Tk 11.85 lakh and some pages of bank cheques were snatched by muggers from a Nestle Company Limited's microbus at Housing Limited's No. 3 road. 

"We have dispatched a team immediate after the incident had happened. They reached the place of occurrence and collected the CCTV footage. The officials of the company also went to the police station concerned. They filed a written complaint. Efforts are going on to arrest the culprits involved in the robbery," he said.
