BD urges UAE to ease visa restrictions for workers' employment

Foreign Secretary of Bangladesh Md Jashim Uddin has urged the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Bangladesh (UAE) to address the visa restrictions issues including pending employment visa applications to ensuring smoother mobility for the workforce.
At a meeting with the UAE Ambassador Abdulla Ali Al Hmoudi at the Foreign Ministry on Tuesday, the Foreign Secretary urged the UAE envoy for a quick review of the issues.

The UAE ambassador assured of an early disposal of the visa issues for Bangladeshi nationals, a Foreign Ministry press release said.
At the meeting, Jashim highlighted significant reforms undertaken by the interim government that aimed at fostering political and economic stability and growth across various sectors.

The foreign secretary, expressing appreciation for the contributions of Bangladeshi expatriates in the development of the Gulf oil-rich nation, thanked the UAE government and the Ambassador for the general amnesty to convicted Bangladesh nationals who had expressed solidarity with the student-led mass movement in Bangladesh.

The discussion also focused on strengthening bilateral relations, enhancing economic cooperation, and addressing key issues including easing visa procedure, augmenting trade, investment and social welfare projects. 

The ambassador acknowledged the contribution large Bangladeshi diaspora community in the UAE working in hospitality, finance, banking, and health sectors. The discussion touched upon opportunities for investment and business development from both sides, 

The Bangladesh Ambassador expressing keen interest in prominent UAE entities such as logistics leader DP World, renewable energy company MASDAR, air service provider Dnata, and cooperation with Al-Nahiyan Trust's welfare initiatives.

The Bangladesh Foreign Secretary appreciated significant remittances from the UAE, acknowledging their vital contributions to the country's socio-economic growth.

 Both the sides discussed the prospect of high-level political exchanges with a view to advancing bilateral cooperation, the release said.
