17 BNP men acquitted in sabotage case of 2015

A Dhaka court has acquitted 17 leaders and activists of BNP, including its Joint Secretary General Habib Un Nabi Khan Sohel, in a sabotage case filed in 2015.

Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sanaullah passed the verdict on Wednesday, after the hearing as no witnesses were turning up before the court to testify for long.
 
Meanwhile, only one witness out of a total of 14 has testified in the case in the last four years.

According to the case documents, police filed the case against the BNP leaders and activists for setting a bus on fire at Gulistan on January 14, 2015. Sub-inspector of Paltan Police Station  Raihanul Islam Saikat filed the case.

Police filed a charge sheet in the case on March 4, 2016. The court on November 13, 2019, framed charges against the accused.
