Student-farmer corner opened in Joypurhat to ensure fair prices of essentials

JOYPURHAT, Oct 25: Student-Farmer Corner was opened on Thursday morning in the district to break syndicate and ensure fair prices of essentials. 

This sales corner has been set up at Shahid Dr Abul Kashem Maidan.

Initiator of the corner Hasibul Islam said, because of so called syndicate, the bazars cannot be controlled; growers are not getting fair prices, and  middlemen are benefitting.

"We are directly purchasing items from growers and selling to general  consumers," he added.

At present, per piece bottle is selling at Tk 40, ridge gourd at Tk 22 per kilogram (kg) instead of Tk 40, spiny gourd at Tk 22 instead of Tk 40, and radish at Tk 40 instead of Tk 50.

Niamur Rahman Nibir, Mobasher Ali, and Fardin Ehsan are playing the role of coordinators.

 It is supervised by Bazar Monitoring Special Task Force. 

A customer Hafizur Rahman said, items are available at less price of Tk 10-12. 

"We are happy to get items at less prices," consumer Shah Alam said.
