Media’s role immense in the fascist regime’s downfall: BRUR VC

RANGPUR, Oct 27:  Vice-chancellor of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) Professor Dr Md Showkat Ali today said that the role of media in the country was immense in the downfall of the previous fascist regime.

"Now, the positive role of the country's mass media is necessary in the construction of discrimination-free Bangladesh," the Vice-Chancellor said.

He viewed this while addressing a discussion meeting titled 'Role of Media in the July Revolution' arranged in celebration of the tenth foundation anniversary of Begum Rokeya University Journalists' Association (BRUJA) at its office as the chief guest.

The Vice-chancellor congratulated all BRUJA members on behalf of the university family on the occasion of its one decade anniversary.

On the occasion, with participation of BRUJA members and teachers of the university, the Vice-chancellor led a joyous rally that paraded the roads from in front of the cafeteria in the campus.

Later, the Vice-chancellor formally inaugurated the office of Begum Rokeya University Journalists' Association on the ground floor of the cafeteria.

In his speech, Professor Showkat Ali called upon the journalists to expose the discrimination, irregularities and corruption through their writings in front of the nation with devotion and honesty.

"Despite various obstacles, the bravery shown by the journalists for the welfare of the nation by presenting the true facts of the July revolution is exemplary for the people of the country," he said.    —BSS
