Prof A K Fazlul Haque made Chairman of Bangla Academy

Former Professor of Dhaka University Prof Abul Kashem Fazlul Haque has been appointed as the Chairman of Bangla Academy. 

He will replace former chairman of the academy Selina Hossain, who resigned from the position on October 17 after the political changeover of August 5.

The Ministry of Cultural Affairs on Sunday issued a notification appointing renowned writer, researcher, literary critic and social analyst Prof Fazlul Haque as the new Chairman of the academy for three years after taking the charge.

Responsibilities and activities of the Chairman will be controlled under the 'Bangla Academy Act, 2013'.

84 years old Prof Fazlul Haque served the Dhaka University for around 40 years as a professor. He was vocal in introducing Bengali Language at all levels as the convener of 'Rashtrabhasha Bangla Rakkha Committee'.

Prof Fazlul Haque was born in Pakundia of Kishoreganj on September 30 in 1940. He has authored 21 books.
