Four held with fake stamps worth Tk 15cr

Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) seized counterfeit stamps worth approximately Tk 15 crore and arrested four individuals involved in the illegal trade. 

During raids conducted by the Web-based Crime Investigation Team of the DB-Cyber and Special Crime Division over the past 24 hours, police apprehended four suspects: Hajera Begum (55), Md Jahangir Alam Jibon (31), Md Masud Rana (25), and Md Alim Sheikh (25). The team recovered 33,75,500 fake stamps, including revenue stamps, non-judicial stamps, and court fee stamps, with an estimated worth of Tk 14.76 crore, along with Tk 1.46 lakh in cash.

Additionally, authorities seized two printing presses, 20 printing dices used for stamp production, a laptop, a sewing machine, an iron machine, and various other tools used for manufacturing fake stamps.

Police reported that legal action against the suspects is underway.
