Nine matches-- five of boys' and four of girls' --of Tasmery Under-14 School Handball tournament (boy's and girl's) have been decided on the opening day (Tuesday) held at Shaheed Captain M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium in the capital.
In the day's opening boy's section matches, Nirjhor Cantonment Public School and College beat Ideal School, Motijheel by 5-2 goals after leading the first half by 3-0 goals, South Point School and College defeated Scholastica (Uttara) by 9-6 goals after the first ended by 3-3 goals draw, Model Academy beat Wills Little Flower School by 7-4 goals after leading the first half by 4-2 goals, Narinda Government High School defeated Scholastica (Uttara) by 18-6 goals after dominating the first half by 3-0 goals and South Point School and College blanked Cambrian School and College by 11-0 goals after leading the first half by 6-0 goals.
In the girl's section matches, Wills Little Flower School beat Uttar Kafrul High School by 5-2 goals after leading the first half by 3-0 goals, Shaheed Bir Uttam Lt. Anwar Girls' College outplayed Kadamtala Purbo Bashabo High School & College by 8-3 goals after leading the first half by 3-1 goals, Heed International School outclassed Uttar Kafrul High School by 6-2 goals after leading the first half by 2-1 goals and Sunnydale beat Shaheed Bir Uttam Lt. Anwar Girls' College by 13-3 goals after dominating the first half by 9-1 goals.
Earlier, Tasmery and Company owner Md. Selim Bin Baten inaugurated the meet as the chief guest while BHF General Secretary Asaduzzaman Kohinoor in the chair.
Vice-President of Bangladesh Handball Federation (BHF) Nurul Islam, Chairman of tournament committee Maksud Ahmed and its Secretary Selim Mia Babu were present in the opening ceremony.
A total of 28 school handball teams of Dhaka Metropolis -- 16 of boys' and 12 of girls'-- are participating in the meet, sponsored by Tasmery Group and organised by Bangladesh Handball Federation (BHF).
The participating boy's teams:
Group A - Uttar Kafrul High School, Khaled Haider Memorial High School, Sunnydale School and Heed International School.
Group B - Nirjhor Cantonment Public School and College, Model Academy, Wills Little Flower School and Ideal School, Motijheel.
Group C - Mitali Bidyapith High School, Methodist English Medium School, Saint Gregory High School and Bangladesh Navy College.
Group D - Narinda Government High School, South Point School and College, Cambrian School and College and Scholastica (Uttara).
The participating girl's teams:
Group A - Scholastica (Uttara), Viqarunnisa Noon School and College and Ideal School, Motijheel.
Group B - Kadamtala Purbo Bashabo High School & College, Sunnydale and Shaheed Bir Uttam Lt. Anwar Girls' College.
Group C - Heed International, Wills Little Flower School and Uttar Kafrul High School.
