Newly appointed Commerce Adviser Sheikh Bashir Uddin hopes to 'bring relief' to people's lives.

He says, to bring about a change in the situation, he does not expect any 'magic' from the workers at the Ministry of Commerce, but rather that they put in 'extra effort'.

Bashir Uddin sat for a discussion with officials at the ministry for the first time on Monday after he was sworn in by President Md Shahabuddin.

"We will work together. You will find that I am your associate. I will try, to the best of my ability, to make your work more effective."

"The work we do will be done for everyone. caste, creed, gender identity will not be considered. We will try to bring a little relief to the people. If we can increase commerce and trade, if we can apply our skills to the utmost, then it is possible for us to do well. I expect extra effort from you." He said that he would work hard alongside the officials at the ministry.

"Due to inflation, the amount of money needed has gone up. Purchasing power has not increased, in fact, it has decreased," he said. "If we look at a labourer, we can see that his quality of life has been compromised."

Bashir is a businessman who started the AkijBashir Group, following in the footsteps of his father, Sheikh Akij Uddin.

Currently, as the managing director, he operates AkijBashir Group as a diversified conglomerate with 18 affiliated companies, including ceramics, tableware, bathware, jute, particle board, doors, packaging, glass, and more.

The company operates in three countries and exports products to over 25 countries.    —bdnew24.com
