Seven people including two women and a schoolboy have been found dead in separate incidents in five districts - Dinajpur, Narayanganj, Barishal, Bogura and Chuadanga, in three days.

GHORAGHAT, DINAJPUR: Police recovered the body of a young man from his residence in Ghoraghat Upazila of the district on Thursday morning.

The deceased was identified as Sree Sujon Chowdhury, 29, son of Hansa Lal Chowdhury, a resident of Kulandapur Village under Bulkipur Union in the upazila.

Dulli Rani, wife of the deceased, was arrested in connection with the incident.

Family members said that the deceased's father went out for personal work at around 4 am and saw his daughter-in-law standing near a bamboo bush.

Suspecting that something might be wrong, he rushed to his son's room, where he found his son's body with a scarf wrapped around his neck.

On information, police recovered the body and brought it to the police station (PS), said Nazmul Haque, officer-in-charge (OC) of Ghoraghat PS.

"The youth might have died due to strangulation. We arrested the deceased's wife based on suspicion of her involvement in the death. The actual reason behind the death would be confirmed after getting the autopsy report," the OC added

NARAYANGANJ: Two people were found dead in separate incidents in Bandar and Rupganj Upazila of the district on Wednesday.

Police recovered the body of a young man from a ditch in Bandar Upazila of the district in the afternoon.

The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.

Police sources said that locals spotted the body of the youth in a ditch in Nabiganj area beside the Dhaka-Madanpur road of the upazila in the afternoon and informed the matter to the police.

Being informed, police recovered the body from the scene and sent it to Narayanganj General Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

Police assumed that miscreants might have killed the youth before trying to dump the body in the ditch.

Bandar PS OC HM Mahmud confirmed the incident, adding that the law enforcers are investigating the matter and trying to identify the deceased.

On the other hand, police recovered the dismembered body parts of a man from a lake shore in Sector 5 of Purbachal in Rupganj Upazila of the district on Wednesday.

The discovery of the unidentified man, aged around 40, was made in the morning.

Locals discovered the body parts in three black plastic bags near Brahmankhali Lake, located beside Kanchan-Kuril Bypass Road and alerted police at around 8 am, said Rupganj PS OC Liaquat Ali.

Upon reaching the scene, police recovered seven dismembered parts of the man's body, including the head, both arms, part of the torso, internal organs, the left leg, and a severed portion of left thigh.

OC Liaquat Ali said that the initial assessment suggests the deceased was murdered two to three days back. The assailants likely dismembered the body, packed it into the plastic bags, and dumped it by the lake late Tuesday night.

Efforts are ongoing to identify the victim. A team from the CID has visited the scene to aid in the investigation. The police are continuing their search for leads and have appealed to public for any information related to the case, the OC added.
