Missing fisherman’s bullet-hit body found in Ukhiya

A bullet-hit body of one of the missing fishermen was recovered from Anjumanpara border area of Ukhiya upazila of Cox’s Bazar on Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Sayedul Bashar, 19, son of Md Hossain of  Anjumanpara.

Officer-in-Charge of Ukhiya Police Station Md Arif Hossain said that locals and family members of the deceased saw the body and informed the police. He said they recovered the body and sent it to the Cox’s Bazar Sadar Police Station for autopsy.

Earlier, on Wednesday, five Bangladeshi fishermen were reportedly abducted while fishing on the Naf River. 

Among them, the body of Bashar recovered. The body had two bullet wounds on shoulder and neck.

Other fishermen are – Mohammad Yusuf, 20, Lutfar Rahman, 19, Saiful Islam, 18, and Yusuf Jala, 19, all are the residents of Anjumanpara village of the upazila.

Ukhiya Upazila (acting) Executive Officer and Assistant Commissioner (Land) Jarin Tasnim Tasin said they heard about the abduction of five fishermen. They are investigating the matter.
