The IPL auction list for the upcoming 18th edition includes 12 Bangladeshi cricketers, among them leg-spinning all-rounder Rishad Hossain. Following his recent success in securing a spot in Australia's Big Bash League, there is growing optimism that Rishad might also earn a place in the IPL.

The 18th edition of the IPL is scheduled to take place in April 2024, with the mega auction set to be held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on November 24-25.

Speaking to the media at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on Sunday, Rishad shared his thoughts about his prospects saying, "Usually, I don't think about these things too much. I didn't even think about the BPL draft. I try to stay grounded. I am confident in myself. Everyone has good days and bad days, so I'm not expecting too much."

While he tried to downplay expectations, he admitted, "Of course, everyone has aspirations. But it's not good to expect too much. If I don't expect anything, I won't be disappointed."

When asked if he had any specific team in mind, Rishad said, "I haven't thought about a particular team. If I think about Chennai and another team picks me, I might feel disappointed. So, I don't have any expectations."

However, he revealed a soft spot for the Kolkata Knight Riders and explained, "I like Kolkata not only because of Shahrukh Khan but because Shakib Al Hasan and Liton Das have played for them. If I get a chance, I will try to perform well. Success in one place often opens doors to opportunities elsewhere."

The base price of Rishad is set at 75 lakh rupees like Nahid Rana, Liton Das, Towhid Hridoy, Shoriful Islam, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Sheikh Mehedi Hasan and Hasan Mahmud, while the Shakib Al Hasan, Taskin Ahmed and Mehidy Hasan Miraz's base price set at one crore each as the base price of Mustafizur Rahman is two crore.

Rishad's immediate focus
however, is not the IPL but the Global Super League starting on November 27 in Guyana. Representing the Rangpur Riders, Rishad will compete in a franchise-based tournament featuring teams from five nations including the West Indies, England, Australia and Pakistan.

"I'm not setting any specific goals in advance. I want to approach each match with a simple plan and give my best. Since we'll be facing diverse teams, I'll focus on performing consistently. After the World Cup, I worked on various aspects like variations and line-length. I hope to do well in the upcoming matches," he shared his thoughts.
