The winners of the sixth edition of Mastercard Excellence Awards 2024 were announced on Saturday during a ceremony in the capital city of Dhaka.
Themed 'Leading by Resilience,' this event was designed to recognize the contributions of organizations in the banking, payments, and fintech space in Bangladesh.
Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr. Ahsan H. Mansur was the chief guest at the event. Trishita Maula, Acting Deputy Chief of Mission, US Embassy in Dhaka was present as the Guest of Honor. Further, CEOs of several leading banks, fintechs and merchants participated in the ceremony.
Mastercard has been hosting Excellence Awards since 2019 to celebrate the work done by industry players towards inculcating a digital-first behavior among enterprises and communities by promoting digital payments adoption.
The Mastercard Excellence Awards 2024 winners were chosen based on their contributions towards building a strong digital economy by furthering financial inclusion. A total of 26 organizations were awarded in 18 categories.
Mastercard started its operations in Bangladesh in 1991 and became the first global payments operator to set up its office in the country in 2013. In these years, the company has forged collaborations with both government and private stakeholders to strengthen the country's digital ecosystem by transforming the payments industry through world-class products and solutions.
