Pakistani High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Syed Ahmed Maroof, on Monday met Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan, the Adviser to the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, and the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Bangladesh.
During the meeting, Adviser Asif Mahmud emphasised that for advancing socio-economic relations between Bangladesh and Pakistan, it is crucial to acknowledge the historical facts from Pakistan's side, especially in the context of the social and national background of both countries.
The meeting held at the office of the Adviser at the Secretariat included discussions on various issues of mutual interest between the two countries including educational and cultural exchanges, exchange of ideas, development of bilateral relations, the introduction of direct flights, trade cooperation.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Adviser warmly welcomed the Ambassador, stating that it is vital to revive trade and economic relations and people-to-people contacts between the two countries.
He also expressed interest in strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation.
The Ambassador emphasised the importance of working together for mutual benefit and business interests, stating, "We will move forward in the right direction and work together."
