Finally, the three High Court Division judges, who were barred from performing judicial duties for about five years due to allegations of misconduct, submitted their resignation letters on Tuesday.
Three High Court Division judges are Justice Salma Masud Chowdhury, Justice Quazi Reza-Ul Hoque and Justice AKM Zahirul Hoque.
The Ministry of Law issued a notification on Tuesday stating that President Md Shahabuddin has accepted the resignations of the three judges.
"The resignations were tendered in accordance with Article 96(4) of the constitution, and the president has accepted them," the Law Ministry notification said.
They have resigned after being prevented from conducting judicial work for about five years due to allegations of corruption and irregularities.
The judges, under scrutiny by the Supreme Judicial Council for alleged misconduct during the Awami League regime, submitted their resignations in separate letters addressed to President of the Republic.
The move marks the culmination of prolonged inquiries into their alleged conduct, which had kept them away from the bench since the investigations began.
The resignations underscored ongoing concerns about judicial accountability and integrity in Bangladesh's higher judiciary.
