
A fire service and civil defense station driver died and another was injured in a fire extinguisher explosion in Pabna's Santhia upazila on Tuesday night.
The accident happened at around 9 pm near Kashinathpur market in the upazila.
The dead Abdur Razzak, 35, son of Salam Molla, was a resident of Baghabari Shela Chapri village under Shahjadpur upazila in Sirajganj. He was a driver of Kashinathpur Fire Service Station.
Kashinathpur Fire Service Station Leader In-Charge Ahsan Ali said deceased car driver Abdur Razzak had a friendly relationship with the cook Jabbar, who was injured in the accident. At night, Jabbar went to his business establishment with Abdur Razzak riding on a motorcycle. At that time, there was a sudden explosion while Abdur Razzak was refilling the fire extinguisher. Razzak's wrists were blown off and most of his legs were burnt. Both were seriously injured.
On information, the fire service personnel rescued them and rushed to Pabna Sadar Hospital where doctors declared the car driver Razzak dead. Injured cook Jabbar Ali has been admitted to hospital.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Santhia Police Station Saidur Rahman confirmed it.
