Dear Sir
Air pollution in Dhaka has become an increasingly urgent problem, impacting both the health of its residents and the overall quality of life in the city. The combination of industrial emissions, vehicular exhaust, construction dust, and the burning of waste has contributed to a hazardous air quality index, often ranking Dhaka among the most polluted cities in the world.
The concentration of particulate matter (PM2.5) is particularly concerning, as it poses serious health risks such as respiratory issues, heart disease, and long-term complications. Vulnerable groups, including children and the elderly, are at heightened risk. In addition to health concerns, the pollution exacerbates environmental problems, affecting the ecosystem and increasing the burden on the city's already struggling healthcare system.
Immediate action is required to curb emissions from various sources. Authorities must enforce stricter regulations on vehicle emissions, industrial waste, and construction practices. Furthermore, the promotion of clean energy alternatives, better public transportation, and increased green spaces could significantly reduce the air pollution levels.
