Three jailed for lifting sand illegally at Nalitabari

NALITABARI, SHERPUR, Nov 24: A mobile court here on Friday night sentenced three people to different terms of jail due to illegal sand lifting in Nalitabari Upazila of the district. 

The convicted people have been sent to jail on Saturday morning. 

Earlier, on information, a team from the the upazila administration conducted a drive in Gorokanda area under Nalitabari Municipality at around 11:15 pm, and arrested truck driver Shamim Mia and his helper Dipu Mia. They were each sentenced 15 days' imprisonment.
In another drive, the upazila administration sentenced another person for illegal sand lifting in Nizpara area. 

Executive Magistrate of the upazila administration Masud Rana confirmed the matter, adding that such drives will continue in the future.
