Five people including two women have been found dead in separate incidents in five districts - Rajshahi, Dinajpur, Natore, Gazipur and Narayanganj, in two days.
RAJSHAHI: Police recovered the throat-slit body of a day labourer from a mango orchard in Bagha Upazila of the district on Saturday morning.
The deceased was identified as Anisur Rahman, 42, son of late Shamsul Haque Molla and a resident of Tulshipur Village under Monigram Union in the upazila.
The deceased's brother Hafiz Uddin said that Anisur was last seen at Monigram Bazaar on Friday evening but did not return home that night. Despite extensive searches, the family members could not locate him anywhere.
Hafiz suspects the murder may be linked to a recent financial transaction as Anisur had received Tk 5,000 from his relative Raihan Ali during a goat market at Monigram Bazaar. Hafiz believes that robbers killed Anisur for the money and dumped his body in the orchard.
At around 6 am on Saturday, local people discovered the body of Anisur in the mango orchard, located south of the Bagha-Charghat highway, owned by one Bazlur Rahman, and informed the matter to the police.
Being informed, police retrieved the body from the scene and sent it to the Rajshahi Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bagha Police Station (PS) Abu Siddique confirmed the incident, saying that the motive behind the murder remains unknown.
"We are investigating the case and the mystery behind the murder will be clearer after receiving the autopsy report. Police are continuing their efforts to uncover the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident," the OC added.
DINAJPUR: Police recovered the body of an elderly woman from a paddy field in Birampur Upazila of the district on Saturday.
The body was recovered from the Moynar Mor area of Katla Union of the upazila in the morning.
The deceased was identified as Brishni Pahan, 55, a resident of Murapara in Benupur Village under Katla Union in the upazila.
Local people found her body lying in a paddy field Moynar Mor area of Katla Union of the upazila in the morning, three kilometres from her home, and informed the matter to the police, said Manjurul Islam, assistant superintendent of Police (Birampur Circle),
Being informed, police recovered the body and sent it to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
The body showed signs of facial injuries and evidence of physical assault was also found, said the police official.
According to locals, Brishni went missing on Friday morning after leaving for a neighbouring village, named Damarpara, to harvest paddy. Her body was later found in the field on Saturday morning. They suspect that she was raped before being murdered.
Sub-Inspector (SI) of Birampur PS Shariful Islam confirmed the incident, saying that no motive has been established for the crime.
However, the law enforcers are investigating the matter and trying to identify and arrest those involved in the incident, the SI added.
NATORE: Police recovered the hanging body of a housewife from her house in Singra Upazila of the district on Friday night.
The body was found in Durga Bazar area of Kocua Para Village in the upazila.
The deceased was identified as Mst Monira Khatun, 23, wife of Md Robin Mia, a resident of the aforesaid area.
Police sources said that the hanging body of Monira Khatun was found in her house in Durga Bazar area of Kocua Para Village in the morning.
On information, police recovered the body from the scene and sent it to Natore Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
However, Md Robin Mia, husband of the deceased, has been taken into police custody for questioning in this regard.
Singra PS OC Asmaul Haque confirmed the incident, adding that the actual cause behind her death will be determined after getting the autopsy report.
KALIGANJ, GAZIPUR: Police recovered the body of a young man from a lake in Kaliganj Upazila of the district on Thursday.
The body was recovered from a lake at Sector No. 15 under Nagari Union in the upazila in the afternoon.
The identity of the deceased youth, aged around 25, could not be known immediately.
Police sources said that local people spotted the body of the youth in the lake at Sector No. 15 under Nagari Union in the upazila in the afternoon and informed the matter to the police.
Being informed, police recovered the body from the scene and sent it to Gazipur Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Kaliganj PS OC Md Alauddin confirmed the incident, adding that the law enforcers are investigating the matter and trying to identify the deceased.
NARAYANGANJ: Police recovered the throat-slit body of a young man from Siddhirganj in the city on Thursday.
The body was recovered from Jalkuri Khilpara area under Ward No. 9 at Siddhirganj in the city in the morning.
The deceased was identified as Md Shakil, 26, son of Md Quddus, hailed from Marichbari area under Shahpara Union of Gaibandha District. He used to live in a rented house owned by Mostak Mia at Pashchim Masdair Kangkar Mor area of Fatullah in Narayanganj City.
Police sources said that local people spotted the throat-slit body of the youth lying in Jalkuri Khilpara area under Ward No. 9 at Siddhirganj in the city in the morning and informed the matter to the police.
Being informed, police recovered the body from the scene and sent it to Narayanganj General Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Police suspected that miscreants might have killed him and tried to dump his body there.
Siddhirganj PS SI Manzurul Alam confirmed the incident, adding that the law enforcers are investigating the matter and trying to detain those involved in the killing.
